A few years ago I started this book, but never finished it. I have a lot of books in my library that I never started or never finished, but I’m hoping to change that.
If you’ve ever listened to Catholic radio, you might have heard him on the Voices of the Saints spots.
To me, this book is like sitting down with a friend for some coaching in prayer. He shares his prayer life which is considerably deeper, and he offers some questions at the end of each chapter to get one to think, pray, and act.
The chapter I most want to work on is “Praying with Scripture”. I know that when praying the Rosary one is following scripture, but beyond that is what I never considered. Usually I’ll read a passage, assume I understand what it is saying, and move on. Bert Ghezzi explains the ancient method of prayerful Bible study call lectio divina. Simply it is reading, meditating, praying, and applying a particular passage. Sounds like a no-brainer. Really, that’s what is done with the Rosary. Why not the other passages?
