“Blessings” Quilt

Project: wallhanging
Size: Approx. 38 1/2″ X 38 1/2″
Reference/Pattern: original
Designed by: “Blessings” by Barbara Wolff
Constructed by: Barbara Wolff, Newton, IA
Quilted by: Barbara Wolff
Completed: 2000
Techniques Used: Machine piecing and quilting, machine trapunto, machine applique, fabric folding technique by Rebecca Wat from her book Fantastic Fabric Folding, and broderie perse. Quote from Rumi, “Wherever you place your foot, there rests a blessing.”
Notes: When I was in the  Piecemakers Quilt Guild, they decided to get in the quilt show business. As part of that show, they wanted a little challenge that the members could be a part of and then display.

The challenge was to use the print fabric which we were all given a half a yard, if I remember correctly. The only other rule was that it had to measure within a certain range. Challenge won! I received a $25 gift certificate for the local fabric store.

Here is a closeup of the center that I took today.

A couple of years ago I painted in the words so they could be seen better.

I’m happy to say that I think my meandering stitch has improved since this quilt.

Thanks for being here.
